Team Ledcor

Cancer doesnt stop, neither will we.

Carrying on the momentum from last year, Team Ledcor is thrilled to ride into its sixth consecutive year as a proponent of BC Cancers research and campaign against cancer. With a growing team, Team Ledcor tackles the Tour de Cure with a diverse team assembled by those from all walks of life. Please Donate Today!

The Challenge

This year were thrilled to embark on our version the Tour de France The 260-km Tour de Cure ride for BC Cancer Research to raise funds and awareness for cancer prevention & a cure. The ride is split over the two days of August 24-25, 2024, though its nowhere near the challenge that those afflicted with cancer face. As we fundraise, train, and solicit donations from today through August 2024, our hearts and minds will be with those affected by cancereither directly or indirectly.

While raising money to fund cancer research, we also promote BC Cancer's campaign in cancer prevention and prevention awareness. Did you know fundraising also raises awareness, and provides pertinent funds to campaigns for:

  • EDUCATION 4 in 10 cancer cases can be prevented with certain behaviours, including:
    • Not smoking
    • Limiting alcohol consumption
    • Minimizing or eliminating meat consumption
    • Mitigating sun exposure
    • Eating non-processed, whole foods
    • Getting vaccinated against certain diseases
  • EARLY DIAGNOSIS Screening and early discovery of cancer is your next best bet at beating it:
    • Lung, colon, cervix, prostate, and breast screening (especially in target, vulnerable populations)
    • Awareness of symptoms and how cancer presents.
    • Dogs have been trained to spot cancer in people who otherwise present healthy.
  • INTERSECTIONAL PREVENTION Certain conditions and ailments may promote cancer growth, including without limitation:
    • HPV
    • Hepatitis C
    • Air, water, and ground pollution
    • Radiation
  • STIGMA Patients may be identified by their cancer when they were entirely someone in themselves before their diagnosis:
    • Many patients feel alienated following diagnosis
    • Some patients lose their mental & physical health supports in friends and family, as support shifts to their cancer diagnosis
    • Pity may alienate and affect one's perception of their own agency
  • CARE Funding promotes care for people with a late-stage diagnosis, those in recovery or remission, and those struggling after the loss of a loved one

Ledcor Cares x Tour de Cure

Team Ledcor has participated in Tour de Cure for five years, collectively raising over $500,000 in support of the BC Cancer Foundation. Last year alone, 26 riders with Ledcor raised nearly $160,000. Team Ledcors milestone for 2024 is to raise $175,000 across 30 riders, more than weve done any previous year.
