ABOUT US

The Event

Tour de Cure, presented by Wheaton Precious Metals, is a beyond epic fundraising event driven and defined by those who believe when we face challenges together, our potential impact is limitless.

The event was officially rebranded and named Tour de Cure in 2019, and has since become the largest cycling fundraiser in B.C. powering cancer research at the BC Cancer. Every year, the Tour de Cure brings together over 2,000 riders and volunteers who raise funds and ride together.

To date, this premier event has garnered the participation of over 31,500 cyclists and over 5,000 volunteers since its inaugural ride in 2009, prior to officially becoming the Tour de Cure.

Tour de Cure participants have helped achieve the extraordinary.

Filled with creativity, connectivity, and passion, the Tour de Cure isn’t just about crossing a finish line. It’s an invitation for riders everywhere, of all backgrounds and skill levels, to add their individuality, strength and story to a community that has raised over $124 million for world-leading research and innovation at BC Cancer.

Together, what we’ve achieved is Beyond Epic. And we’re just warming up.

The Tour de Cure Impact

With over $124 million raised, Tour de Cure's funding has been fuelling world-leading research and innovation at BC Cancer that has helped transform cancer care across the province.

From genomics research to province-wide clinical trials and supportive care services, your fundraising efforts have helped us achieve the extraordinary.

Now we are mobilizing around our Beyond Belief campaign to raise $500 million to transform cancer care in B.C.

Here are a few initiatives that have been supported by the funds raised from the 2023 Tour de Cure:

  • Expanding BC Cancer research across a number of areas, including immunotherapy, lymphoma, leukemia, and genomics
  • Improving access to care in the Fraser Valley region through the Patient Relief Fund at BC Cancer – Abbotsford and Surrey
  • Supporting BC Cancer's prevention and early detection programs, including oral cancer screening
  • Expanding the Precision Radiation Therapy Program led by BC Cancer – Prince George, which will increase opportunities for patients in northern communities to participate in new clinical trials
  • Developing dedicated supportive cancer care services, including a fully donor-funded BC Cancer – Victoria Integrated Care and Research Pavilion
  • Advancing research in pediatric cancer, including potential new strategies to target metastatic disease in high-risk childhood cancers

The impact is tangible. When you ride, you are riding for a future free from cancer.

About the BC Cancer Foundation

The Tour de Cure is one of the BC Cancer Foundation's annual fundraising events, with donations going towards the mission of helping to build a world free from cancer.

The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer. As the largest philanthropic funder of cancer research and care in the province, our donors fuel hope for the 80,000 patients per year who depend on BC Cancer.

Every dollar we raise stays in B.C., advancing breakthroughs and innovation across BC Cancer’s research programs and world-class centres. This helps to accelerate access for all British Columbians to cutting-edge cancer care, close to home.

The BC Cancer Foundation is currently raising funds for Beyond Belief, the most ambitious and comprehensive health campaign ever in the province. Your support ensures that life beyond cancer is within reach.

Together, we will go beyond belief.
