Second Ride
This is my second ride with BC Cancer and Ledcor, as I carry the momentum from last year's ride & continue to fundraiser in 2024. In August 2023, my team and I tackled the two-day, 260-km Tour de Cure fundraising ride. It is an annual fundraising event by the BC Cancer Foundation and I'm exhilerated to be a part of it.
Why I Ride
When I ride, I'll be thinking of my grandfathers who fought cancer, my friends who have cases of it, and the millions of Canadians who have faced it. I'll be thinking of Terry Fox who set the strong precedent of fundraising for all Canadians by challenging himself with extreme endurance. When we ride for cancer, we ride for Canadians, and as Canadians we ride for global research and a cure.
Why We Fundraise
We're all afflicted by cancer in some way and it's one of the leading contemporary causes of premature death & financial hardship. BC Cancer Foundation, the fundraising arm of BC Cancer, helps fund our world-leading Canadian physicians & clinicians in their research and treatment of cancer, and is one of our best tools we can wield against cancer as the average Canadian. BC Cancer's efforts are not only in research and treatment, but in education as a form of prevention: they're a large proponent of quitting smoking, limiting alcohol intake, healthy lifestyles, and actively fund prevention in other forms.
