Hello Friends

Deep Breath. I am riding in the BC Cancer Foundation Tour de Cure again. I should have signed up a month or two ago, and reached out, to give people time to react, and donate. The ride is less than two weeks away. There is not much time, to donate, or to prepare.

But I am busy, crazy busy, at work, navigating contradictory worlds of growth and constraint, of growing household formation and working with a kick ass team on the positive, to navigating high interest rates, discombobulated demand curves, thoughtless policies from three levels of government on the challenges. Weird times in BC. Good times in Alberta. Lots of stuff. Lots of people. It has been all consuming creating revenue, managing costs, and delivering results. 70-hour work weeks.

And on top of that, I am tired. I am stretched thin. I wanted to take a break from so much commitment to so many things. I wanted to take a pass. I havent gone road riding since last year, because of work, and so I am no where near bike fit enough for this ride.

But my conscience nags me. My anger at cancer, the insidious disease, the freak of nature, compels me to act. In the last two weeks three friends have been diagnosed at Stages 3 and 4. And then there is the 10-year-old son of one of my colleagues, who now has this burden, and who will be in Childrens Hospital for the next two months. Cancer doesnt discriminate. Cancer is relentless. Being tired or stretched thin is nothing compared to the fight these friends fight. The least I can do is ride. The least we can do is give.

And so, therefore, must you and I be. Relentless. In the quest. The quest for the cure.

We can only do that through rigorous research and treatment. We must be resolute.

With these thoughts in mind, and with the best rationalization of not wanting to ride, I get over myself, and my inertia, and sign up.

I want your support. As much as you can give.

Please help. Its August. Some of us are away. We dont check emails. I have left it to the last minute. Not fair to you I know. But please, do not brush this off. Hit the below link and please sponsor me in the quest to beat this thing.

Thank-you so much for reading this, enduring my ask, and taking action. Please again. Thanks again.

Heres the link. Get your credit card and do it now, before a hundred other emails obscure the sentiment, the ask, and the give (and I will match donate any contributions from outside of BC to the sister organization of BCCF in the donating jurisdictionthinking of my Calgary friends in particular).

Thanks again for your consideration. A grateful Eric.
