I'm a Canucks fan, and so was my Dad. It's been 10 years since we lost Dad to esophageal cancer after only a 10-month battle. The options were limited at the time, but advancements like immunotherapy now give survivors a better chance.

This year, I'm riding in the Tour de Cure again, in honor of my dad and all the survivors out there who keep battling. With the Oilers' incredible Stanley Cup run, I'm also riding for Ben Stelter. Unlike my dad, who had 69 years, Ben's life was cut tragically short. I'm riding for his parents and his legacy.

For this final series and this ride, I'll be renting an Oilers bandwagon. Im sure the Canucks wont mind. I'll play "La Bamba" on my AirPods, reminiscing about the good times with those we've lost too early, the amazing 2024 playoffs we watched, especially watching Zadorov stuff Kane into the Oilers bench, and dreaming of a future where cancer doesn't take our loved ones.

Tomorrow is my son's elementary school graduation, a moment I'd love to share with my father. I'm proud of my son and his unique strengths, and I wish I could discuss them with the amazingly positive leader I once had in my life. His perspective would be priceless.

If you'd like to support me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Go Oilers!
