Please support me in the Tour de Cure!
In August of 2024 I will be embarking on a cycling challenge. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer.
I am inspired for this ride by the spirit of my dear friend, Rich Prohaska, who died of cancer age 54 in Dec. 2023, after a long and conscientious battle. He was an inspiration for his zest for life, living to his fullest potential and exemplifying love for his family, friends, community and nature. Rich could do the hardest things with a smile on his face. For Rich's celebration of life sticker's were created with his big smile, the mountains and the word 'Grateful'. This resonated with me as a perfect team name and in alignment of how I wish to live.
I am inspired by other lives lived and taken by cancer, especially those close to me: my Dad: Lou Rivers, nephew: Deja Milne, uncle: Phil Goernert. I am inspired by those of you who are currently fighting, who are in remission or in the early diagnosis (you know who you are). I am inspired by the people I see in the hospital ER, as their physician, living the fight.
I want to make a difference. I want to help create new solutions and treatments and improve outcomes for my friends, my patients.
This ride may be a challenge for me, but is nothing compaired to the challenges of others living with cancer. I am grateful to be able to ride for this cause.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer Foundation, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
Please consider supporting me by making a gift today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!
Please consider riding with me on TEAM GRATEFUL this year.
Thank you so much for your support!
with love and gratitude
