This August I am joining the Tour de Cure - a 200km bike race - to raise awareness and resources in the fight to conquer cancer.
Everybody knows a person who has suffered from cancer. Maybe you suffered a tragic loss. Maybe you were lucky enough to witness someone toughing it out. Maybe you have seen both. Cancer rates have increased to the point where it affects 50% of our population and fighting it requires a a lot of perseverance and medical resources.
Cancer research is THE most active branch of on-going research and rightfully so.
Over the last year alone
(1) over 50 new substances have been approved to fight various types of cancer (this is A LOT if you are familiar with the process of FDA approvals)
(2) new diagnostic tests can now detected 93% of stage 1 cancers and majorly improve treatment plans and prognoses
(3) new delivery methods of drugs were developed to make treatment more efficient (read: less side effects - if you have seen them first hand you know how impactful this is)
Help us raise funds and awareness to keep this fight going and to make human kind harder to kill!
Lets make the people WE LOVE harder to kill.
While I am on my bike for 200km I will think about
- My mom who has shut down 3 cancers so far (she is the strongest woman I know)
- My grandma who didnt make it and will forever be loved
- My friend who was much too young for a cancer diagnosis, took it like a champ and lives to tell the tale
