I have accepted a challenge that I have never thought of being a part of. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure presented by Wheaton Precious Metals to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer. I am not an athlete although I strive to keep an active lifestyle. I used to watch on the sidelines, cheer for those who participate, and can't help but admire their passion and discipline. This time it is different... I am going to ride.
I have recenty learned that cycling is an application of the forces of "push" and "pull." As I embark on the Tour de Cure challenge this coming August 2024, I can't help but reflect on how the forces of "push" and "pull" are relevant to one's cancer journey. The stories I have heard and been part of from my loved ones, friends, and patients who battled this disease share the narrative of being inspired to continue fighting (push) and drawing strength from the support of those who matter the most (pull).
It is quite fitting that I can take part of this extraordinary fund raising event to support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
