This is my first time participating in the annual Tour de Cure cycling fundraiser for cancer research. My teammate is my daughter Ashley who has been participating for several years.
Last July Rosemary, my wife and Ashley's mother, died of colorectal cancer. The event last year was very emotional for me and I was moved to register for this year. I had just taken up cycling after Rosemary's death and I knew it would be a challenge. I am doing this ride in Rosemary's memory, to honour and celebrate her life. My challenge will be minor compared to the challenges and pain she went through and the determination and strength she showed.
Countless others have also lost loved ones to cancer. Nothing will bring our loved ones back. The funds raised by the cycling community in Tour de Cure will help cancer research and make a difference. We hope for the day when cancer will no longer inflict pain and suffering on patients and those who walk with them on their journey.
I ask you to make a donation to support our team and cancer research. Your help is needed and appreciated.
