This will be my 6th Tour de Cure and my first full Tour since becoming a father to two amazing kids. Particularly after last year's smoke-related mid-ride cancellation, I'm extra excited for Shea and Quinn to see their dad, their auntie Marga, and their uncle Connor cross the finish line.

Embarking on the Tour as a father has inspired me to reflect on my childhood and the many people who shaped me into the person I am today. Unfortunately, many of those people had their lives cut short by cancer. Like me and my brother, my kids will never know a grandparent who was taken too soon by cancer.

Just this past year the captain of our team, my sister-in-law and auntie Marga to my kids, was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. Her diagnosis served as a harsh reminder that cancer can happen to any of us at any time. The treatment and care she received from BC Cancer, which has led to her restored health (!!), is a reminder of why I do this.

This year, I ride for Marga.

I am immensely grateful that my children get to enjoy more time with their wonderful Aunt -- because of BC Cancer. Your donation will directly support BC Cancer and their continued support of those battling cancer in BC and beyond.

It is my hope that when Shea and Quinn are old enough to reminisce, to look back on their lives and the people who shaped them, they are surrounded by more survivors than memories.

If you share my hope, please consider donating. Thank you.
