Dear friends,

I extend my sincere gratitude to each of you for your support in (my) 2nd annual Tour de Cure. I learned about Tour de Cure shortly after Mama Remy's leukemia diagnosis in 2022. Feeling of helplessness led to the 200km journey, it has since blossomed into a meaningful endeavour.

Every one of us, unfortunately, have our cancer story. While many of them don't end well, your contributions today will fuel the change in the narratives of the future stories.

I dedicate this ride to Mama Remy

Mama Remy was more than just my mother-in-law; she embodied love and kindness. She presented me with love & acceptance since day one.

Her battle with leukemia was met with bravery and grace, leaving a mark on all who knew her. While her life was not spared, thanks in part to advancements in treatment that focused on her quality of life, she continued to share precious moments with her loved ones until her final moments. Mama Remy's legacy lives on!

Rest In Peace, Remedios "Mama Remy" Fernandez Tan;

~ July 5 1948 - March 23 2024 ~

In tribute to Mama Remy, a woman who dedicated her life to caring for others, I pedal with purpose, striving to make a difference in the fight against similar diseases.

The Challenge

Last year's ride was 200km. This year's ride will be 260km from Cloverdale to Hope over 2 days.

I was never an avid cyclist; with the pending participation in the 2023 Tour de Cure, I started to bike commute daily as a personal challenge, that was May 2023. I've now completed a year of bike commuting on my fixed gear bike, sunshine, rainbows or snowstorm.

Team Schnitzel

I am grateful to call Captain Florian my friend, whose invitation to join Team Schnitzel in 2023 sparked my involvement. Take cue from our team's name & mascot; we make light of a heavy subject, invoking smiles when it's needed the most.

Our mutual love for Muay Thai brought us together, we also share a mutual passion in Brazilian Jiujitsu - Team Schnitzel is a collective of diverse backgrounds, many of us martial artists, all of whom I am proud to share the team with.

Big thanks goes out this year to @PrimeBJJseries & @MarcusSoaresBJJ for contributing to our fundraising campaign.

  • JUNE 9th - Prime BJJ Tournament: Team Schnitzel will be inside selling 50/50 tickets with a chance to win up to $500 & prize giveaways
  • JUNE 29th - Charity BJJ Seminar: Led by Grand Master Marcus Soares
