I am a cancer researcher and one of British Columbia's relatively few specialists in sarcomas, the category of cancer that Josh has, that Terry Fox had, and that many young people unfortunately come down with every year. I am part of a clinical research community that has made huge advances in some kinds of sarcomas, raising cure rates from under 15% to over 75% for osteosarcoma as one example. I am hoping we can apply recent genomic and biotechnological advances to desmoplastic round cell tumor to hopefully make a similar difference for this disease. I have been entrusted with the honour and responsibility to direct the use of the funding being raised for exactly this purpose. I look forward to riding with many of you and explaining what we know now, what the challenges are and what I think we can do about it, together.
