Please support me in the Tour de Cure!
I'm riding in the Tour de Cure for the first time to raise $ for BC Cancer. I'm just back from cycling in Riccione, Italy, where I met a wonderful group of women from Vancouver (and Oakville) who are members of the amazing Brainiacs team. They encouraged me to join the team and to ride in this year's Tour. I accepted right away!
As it turns out, I'm one of the lucky cancer survivors, having been operated last year to remove a large benign tumour from my brain that had robbed me of my mobility and was affecting my cognitive functions. I'm one of the lucky ones! But cancer has touched my family in the past: I lost a brother to that dreadful disease, and some of my family and friends are battling through it now.
That's why I'll be riding the 200 kms from Cloverdale to Hope in late August, in gratitude for my own recovery and in memory and hope for lost ones and others battling cancer.
This ride will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
