In August 2024, I will be embarking on a cycling challenge, riding 200km from Cloverdale to Hope. This is my first time riding in the Tour de Cure fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation, and I am proud to be supporting this great cause!
The incidence of cancer is increasing, and it is estimated that one in two people in BC will get cancer in their lifetime, with the cancer rates also increasing in young people at an alarming rate. In my life, too many people close to me have been affected directly by cancer or have been the caregivers supporting their parents, extended family, partners, and friends in their diagnoses. My ride is for each of them.
This ride will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer. Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
