Please support me in the Tour de Cure!

In August of 2024 I will be embarking on a cycling challenge. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure presented by Wheaton Precious Metals to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer.

This year I will be riding for my good friend Ilmar Weemees who passed away a couple of months ago after a short but valiant battle against cancer. Ilmar and I participated in a number of Rides to Conquer Cancer rides over the years as well as a couple of Grand Fondos. He was always by my side, on my wheel on many rides. His friends and my family were heartbroken to see him slip so fast from us after his diagnosis last Fall. His battle was a courageous one despite insurmountable odds. Despite this, he was always cheerful and optimistic. He committed to doing the Tour de Cure almost immediately, inspired by many of the good folks that ride for the Brainiacs cycling team.

I have learnt so much from my good friend Ilmar. To live life is a privilege. To have friends and family and be in good health is a blessing. I continue see Ilmar riding with me on my rides. I am now on his wheel. He will forever be in my thoughts.

Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
