On August 24 & 25, 2024 I will be embarking on a cycling challenge. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure presented by Wheaton Precious Metals to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer. It will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer.
This year I am riding in memory of my beloved aunt who recently passed away from this horrible disease in April, just short of 3 months since her diagnosis.
In the face of the relentless adversary that is cancer, we find strength in unity, courage and remembrance. I embark on this journey, a ride to conquer cancer, in memory of a woman of extraordinary strength and resilience, an aunt who left us at the young age of 59 after a valiant fight against stage 4 lung cancer.
Her spirit was indomitable, her courage unwavering. Even in the face of the most aggressive form of cancer, she fought with all her might. She was taken from us too soon. Her loss is deeply felt, a void that can never be filled.
I will ride in her honor. I will ride to remember her fight, her spirit and her courage and to raise awareness to fund research and to support those who are still in the throes of this battle and with the hope that one day, we will conquer this disease that has taken so much from so many.
As I pedal each mile, I will carry with me the memory of my beloved aunt, her strenght propelling me forward.
We ride with hope, with determination and with the belief that together we can make a difference.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
