Please support me in the Tour de Cure!

In August of 2024, I am riding with a group of close friends in this year's Tour de Cure, presented by Wheaton Precious Metals on behalf of the BC Cancer Foundation.

The money we raise for the BC Cancer Foundation will support leading clinicians, scientists, and researchers whose search for new discoveries will improve cure rates, reduce toxicity and increase precision of treatments, and ultimately, improve patient outcomes. The BC Cancer Foundation is the largest charitable funder of cancer research and care in the province.

The ride will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer. I have several close friends who received their cancer diagnoses while navigating the challenges of motherhood and careers at the same time. They are incredibly strong and they are cancer survivors. I am gratefull everyday that they are still here. It is not always easy for them, however, as they continue to face complications from the side effects of their treatment and the anxiety of follow up scans. One of these brave women, Virginia, is riding on our Tour de Cure team this August. Another member of our Tour de Cure team, Melinda, is currently supporting two friends in their 50s as they receive treatment for two different, aggressive stage 4 cancers.

Not everyone facing cancer survives, however. Virginia lost her mom to pancreatic cancer, while undergoing treatment for her own cancer, and I lost a dear aunt almost nine years ago to pancreatic cancer as well. A very close family friend just passed away this past week, after only learning about his esophageal cancer diagnosis two months ago. My dad's sister bravely faced cancer, but the radiation and chemotherapy weakened her significanlty and she passed away of a stroke a few years later. All of these incredibly important members of our extended families left us far too early. They are missed everyday by their loved ones - spouses, children, grandchildren and close friends.

Cancer doesn't stop, neither will we.

Please consider supporting me by making a gift today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!

Thank you so much for your support!
