For my fourth time, I am gearing up to ride with passion and determination in the BC Cancer Foundation's Tour de Cure 2024 as a proud member of the Wheelin Warriors of the North, our dynamic Prince George team.
In August, over two days, I will be covering a challenging yet meaningful 200km, not merely as a physical feat but as a heartfelt tribute to my loved ones who have faced the profound battle against cancer. This ride is a personal journey, fueled by memories of my dear Uncle, who passed away, my Grandma, a resilient survivor, my friend, a courageous survivor, and my Grandpa, currently battling with unyielding strength.
In 2023, the Tour de Cure achieved an awe-inspiring milestone, raising $7.1 million and contributing to an overall total of over $116 million. Notably, our Prince George team played a crucial role in this success, raising an incredible $300,000. These funds have been instrumental in fueling groundbreaking initiatives and programs, making a tangible difference in cancer care.
It's important to highlight that every dollar raised by our team directly benefits the Prince George Centre for the North. This vital institution plays a pivotal role in providing essential treatment to those affected by cancer across all of Northern BC.
