Please support me in the Tour de Cure!

Wheelin' Warriors of the North is a team I founded mid-November of 2012 when I registered as the Team Captain for the Ride to Conquer Cancer, now known as the Tour de Cure, benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation.

This was a personal challenge and a cause I felt strongly about for many reasons, the biggest reason and the catalyst for building an army of cancer fighting cyclists, was the passing of my longtime friend, Nola, who died of skin cancer in June of 2012. In the beginning I used the ride as an outlet for my mourning. Since then, my reasons for continuing to ride and to captain this amazing team have grown and evolved to encompass so much more. I ride to create space for people to mourn their losses, and also to celebrate life's accomplishments and subtleties. I ride to raise money for the BC Cancer Foundation, the largest fundraising event supporting BC Cancer. I ride to encourage others to ride. I've seen it it do some pretty amazing things for people's lives, and I ride because I want to continue to see people grow strength through the positivity that the ride provides.

Each year our team has consisted of some very inspiring and dedicated teammates ranging in age and experience, but all share a common goal: a passion for fundraising in support of cancer research and care. I am proud to say that to date; Wheelin' Warriors of the North have raised closed to $1.7 Million for the BC Cancer Foundation - all of which stays in the North. These funds all help BC Cancer equip the centre with critical technology, expand its research capabilities and attract world-class experts. They also support the Patient Comfort Fund, which provides resources for patients and families travelling from other communities to Prince George for treatment.

My involvement with the BC Cancer Foundation has allowed me to see the incredible impact that philanthropy has in supporting vital enhancements to care and advancement in cancer research at BC Cancer. I know the challenges that so many people have when facing a cancer diagnosis and as a resident of Prince George I am proud that we are home to a BC Cancer Centre who is a leader in radiation therapy.

2024 will be my 12th ride as Captain of Wheelin' Warriors of the North, and once again I ride to celebrate the great ones that have been taken from us too soon. I urge you to consider supporting the BC Cancer Foundation in helping to establish a best-in-class Precision Radiation Treatment and Research Program at BC Cancer - Prince George. This will directly lead to more patients being treated in Prince George and better survival rates for so many of our loved ones who have been or will be impacted by this disease.

Please consider supporting me by making a gift today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!

Thank you so much for your support!
