My name is Katie Paolucci Townsley. In August of 2024 I will be taking part in my second Tour de Cure ride. I have once again committed to participate in the Tour de Cure presented by Wheaton Precious Metals to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer.
It is an absolutely challenging ride, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer.
There wasnt even a question in my mind on whether or not Id ride again with the "Wheelin' Warriors of the North." I had never in my life been involved in something so powerful and inspiring as the Tour De Cure fundraising ride.
Last year I rode for my Auntie Frankie. We lost her to cancer many years ago. There isnt a year that goes by that her absence isnt felt. Im still riding for her, but Im also riding for my grandmother. We unfortunately lost her just before Christmas this past year to cancer. I havent even processed this yet, so Im not certain what to say.
I cant do anything for them, but maybe I can help the ones who are still with us. Im riding this year to once again help raise money for cancer research. To help find a cure for all of the people who still have a chance. Hopefully, my little contribution, along with the thousands of other people riding with me in August this year can go towards defeating this horrible disease.
