In August of 2024 I will be embarking on a cycling challenge. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure. This is the seventh time that I'll be doing the two day ride - 4 times to Seattle and 2 trips to Hope (or almost Hope as last year's ride was stopped due to smoke).
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world. The funds also help to fund the Institute for Advanced Medical Isotopes IAMI will foster innovation in a wide range of fields, including radiopharmaceutical development, accelerator research, and advanced isotope development. IAMI will secure British Columbias supply of critical medical isotopes, such as Technetium-99m, and act as a back-up producer and supplier of Fluorine-18 to BC Cancer. This additional production capacity will accommodate future expansion of its PET camera infrastructure.
