This marks my second year riding to conquer cancer alongside the incredible team, the Unicorn Racers. Despite the challenges, we triumphed over 165 kilometers on day one of the ride. Unfortunately, day two was curtailed due to hazardous smoke levels, allowing us to complete only 67 kilometers.

Nevertheless, I'm determined to achieve my first full ride this year. I extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their generous donations. Together, let's pedal towards a future free of cancer.

Why did we choose the name Unicorn Racers for our new team?

'Unicorn' is in honour of all the special, one-of-a-kind people who each of us has lost to cancer - including Emma, our team's inspiration. Before she was taken away from us at 5 years old, she was simply a funny little girl who loved to ride her bike wearing her Unicorn helmet. Our jerseys have the names of all the unicorns each of us ride for.

'Racers' because it's not a ride, it's a Race. A Race to find treatment that will stop this brutal disease from stealing our Unicorns from us.

Emma never called it the 'Ride to Conquer Cancer'. Instead, she called it the 'Race for No More Chemo'. And that's what cancer meant to her and to so many others: chemotherapy. The barbaric, 1960s treatments, that are still used today, that push bodies to the limit and take loved ones away from home, family, and friends for way too long.

And too often, even that's not enough.

We're so close to making this a disease that can be treated effectively and compassionately. Every dollar is the difference that will help fund our scientists to discover the cure we need and have all been waiting for.

Join us in our Race to find the cure for all the beautiful Unicorns!
