This August will mark my 5th year of riding in the Tour de Cure ( formerly Ride to Conquer Cancer) and since our inaugral ride in 2019 the KPU Eagles have raised $74,540.00. Our team goal this year is to reach $100,000.00 and with your help we can do it! This ride is a very moving experience, no pun intended, both physically and emotionally. Joining thousands of other people and putting our minds and hearts together for the same cause is truly exilerating and so rewarding.
Like millions of people around the world I have been personally impacted by this devasting disease. In the past 6 months alone I have lost 2 very dear friends that go all the way back to elementary school, both my own age. It has been very tough. This fund raising event allows me to feel in a minute way that I am making a difference, all be it a tiny droplet in an ocean of donations towards ending this blight on humanity and as we know and understand, every dollar counts. Act local think global.
Cycling longer distances comes relatively easily, it is an activity that I love to do, it is so very healing on multiple levels; mind; body and soul. Thus, riding the distance is not the issue but asking friends for a financial contribution is the challenge. There are so many, many worthwhile causes that need our support in the world today, it is difficult to know where to put our limited funds, and that is why I am so grateful for any amount that you care to donate. It was not easy to ask you so thank-you for your consideration and we do so desperatly need to break down Cancer!
With your generous support, the funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, and bring hope to patients in British Columbia along with making an impact around the world. It is your monetary support that makes this all possible.
