This year the ride and cause is especially important to me, as just this May my mother, Lorraine, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately just this July 15th she passed away. Much quicker than expected. Myself, my son, and my siblings were at her side.

I will be riding in memory of her, she was a truly amazing person and we are devastated with losing her so quickly to this terrible disease.


I joined her at her initial visits to hospital and the regional Cancer Center, and it was impressive seeing all the brilliant and caring staff in oncology and treatment. There is so much infrastructure and support for people with this terrible disease and we have made great progress. Unfortunately, we have not made much progress on pancreatic cancer, it is normally undetected until late stage when very little can be done.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
