Volunteer with the Tour de Cure

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to get involved and experience the weekend!

Our volunteers play an integral part in delivering a successful event — from event setup, to supporting an exceptional participant experience, it’s all hands on deck.

We encourage you to volunteer for the full weekend to enjoy the full Tour de Cure experience, but if you can only make one day, that’s ok too. Once you register, you will be able to select your shifts, locations and positions for the weekend.

There is a $25 registration fee, which includes a t-shirt per shift, meals for the weekend, your camping tent and transfers. If you would like to fundraise, you will have your own online participant page to collect donations

Weekend positions include:

  • Traffic & Safety Team: Responsible for managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic into and out of the opening ceremony, camp and finish lines. Being on the frontline, you will be cheering and providing encouragement for the riders.
  • Pit Stop Team: Keep our riders fueled with snacks and hydration and give them a boost of positive energy throughout the day.
  • Green Team: We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact. The Green team will ensure the route, pit stops and event sites are restored to their original condition.
  • Caboose Team: Rides the course by vehicle or on a bicycle to track final Rider and ensures everyone makes it back off the route safely; reports any accidents or issues.
  • Site Team: Help the Tour de Cure team set up the event at the start line in Cloverdale, camp at Chilliwack Heritage Park or the finish line in Hope.

We are also looking for specialty team volunteers for event weekend. These include:

  • Moto Safety Team: Moto Safety works with Road Dispatch staff and local law enforcement to guarantee safe passage for Riders along each route.
(Required to provide own motorcycle and helmet, a copy of your license, and proof of insurance.)
  • Sweep Driver: This team drives the route in vans or SUVs outfitted with bike racks (provided). Sweep vehicles help riders along the route. The sweep team is also a source of encouragement with cheering, music and decorations.
(Some lifting required. Encouraged to provide own SUV or minivan. Must have driver’s licence and proof of insurance.)
  • Route Supply Truck Driver and Navigator: This team assists in the distribution and replenishment of snacks needed for each of the Route Stops.  The team works closely with Dispatch staff to be certain that all Route Stops have sufficient hydration & snack supplies.
(Lifting required. Drivers for the cube trucks are needed. Please notify us if you have experience driving refrigerated trucks.)
