Refer n' Raise

We know there’s strength in numbers when it comes to breaking down cancer. That’s why Tour de Cure supporters Gino and Christina Laplante have generously offered to provide riders with a $50 donation for each new rider they recruit!

Starting today, April 14, 2023, receive a $50 donation to your personal fundraising page for each new rider you recruit, up to a maximum of $250 per participant.

Just make sure that the person you refer enters your name in the field marked “If you were referred by a friend, please enter their first and last name here” on the registration form.

Your new recruits can also save $50 off of their registration fee by using the promo code REFERNRAISE23.

Gino and Christina have committed the funds to provide donations for the first 100 new rider referrals, so this offer won’t last long – get out there and start recruiting!

If you have any questions, please contact us at tourguides@bccancer.bc.ca.

*The maximum fundraising amount to be earned by each participant is capped at $250 or 5 referrals. Only 100 fundraising gifts are available. You may receive the donation only for referring new riders. A new rider is anyone who is not currently registered for the 2023 event. Your account will be credited within 15 business days.

A Note from Gino and Christina Laplante:

First and foremost, THANK YOU for supporting the BC Cancer Foundation by participating in the Tour de Cure, presented by Wheaton Precious Metals.

Like many of you, our lives changed when cancer hit. At the age of 34, Gino was diagnosed with a rare form of testicular cancer that had also spread to his lymph nodes, lungs and abdomen. The news was a huge shock to us, as Gino was given just three months to live at the time of his diagnosis. We were happily married with three young children.

Months of daily chemotherapy treatments were initially effective in treating the cancer; however, a month and a half later the cancer returned. But a new trial treatment combining a stem cell transplant with high-dose chemotherapy saved his life.

To give back, we made a commitment to fundraise for the BC Cancer Foundation by creating a cycling team with employees from Mack Kirk Roofing along with family and friends. After seven years of riding, a lot of hard work and a lot of good people, we reached our goal of raising a million dollars, and Gino celebrated his 50th birthday last year!

Although our story has a happy ending, cancer continues to impact all of us, affecting colleagues, friends and family members. We know too well that it can strike anyone and have a devastating impact. We also know firsthand the hope that funding new clinical trials can bring.

It’s with this in mind that we are proud to support this year’s Refer n Raise Program to help you recruit new riders to the 2023 Tour de Cure. The more people we bring to the cause, the more people’s story will turn out like our own.

Reach out to your friends, family, co-workers and others to help grow the Tour de Cure. More people means a bigger impact!

On behalf of the BC Cancer Foundation and the thousands of British Columbians that are currently facing cancer – Thank You!
