Team Captain: Donna Brooks
Dandelions are my favourite flower. They remind me of spring, when rebirth, especially in our Canadian soil, happens. Unlike other flowers and plants, though, dandelions are not always welcome. Gardeners and farmers try very hard to pull out the dandelions because they are prolific, tenacious, and have deep and strong roots. But the dandelions are good at hanging in there, and manage to sprout their bright yellow flower despite our best efforts.
And those our just the qualities that this cycling team represents. We are riding for our loved ones who have lived with, or have passed from cancer. We are honoring the toughness and resilience that one must have to endure and live with cancer. Like dandelions, we have deep roots. Welive in many places of B.C and Alberta, but our friendships and relationships began a long time ago. So wehave joined forces andformed a team to participate in the Tour de Cure, a ride sponsoredby Wheaton Precious Metals to help the BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer!
It will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer.
The money we raise for the BC Cancer Foundation will support leading clinicians, scientists, and researchers whose search for new discoveries and improved patient outcomes will have a real impact in our communities throughout the province, across Canada, and around the world.
This is your opportunity to do something challenging and rewarding. And you wont do it alone.
Cancer doesnt stop, neither will we.
