Everyone has been impacted by cancer in one way or another. My niece Chelsea who is only 29 and lives in Kelowna, is fighting the cancer battle right now - she has the same cancer in her leg that Terry Fox suffered from. Chelsea has already faced three rounds of chemo and is getting ready for her big surgery in Vancouver scheduled for July. After she recovers from the surgery she has three more rounds of chemo and hopefully by that point she will have kicked cancers butt and able to move on with life.
Chelea's cancer came as a suprise this past spring, in fact she and Jordan were making big plans to be married in May (which they still did) the only difference was she was in the hospital due to complications with the chemo on the day of her wedding. Her doctor let her out for a few hours and her Dad was able to wheel her down the aisle to meet her now husband Jordan.
It's hard to watch this all unfold - I became part of the the family when Chelsea was two, she was my flower girl at my wedding and watching her grow up into a beautiful confident woman has been a pleasure. This August some of the family will be embarking on a cycling challenge to support Chelsea and her cancer fight. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure presented by Wheaton Precious Metals to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
Please consider supporting me by making a gift today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!
Thank you so much for your support!
