10th year supporting the ride to conquer cancer!
Originally I joined my sister in the ride to conquer cancer. My sister riding for a friend, I joined to support and help her train for the ride. Since then, we were joined by my brother, Chris, and he took it to another level, recruited a team of 20, bought a bike trailer, had support vehicles, photographers, and volunteer drivers. Team Perimeter drainage, along with East Van Brewery, have been along for 8 years, and have raised over 800k, with a small group. This group of individuals are amazing, and it has been an honor to ride amongst them.
I just completed my 9th ride, and have signed up once again for the 10th. This last year, with COVID, the ride changed it's dynamics. Individuals rode their own routes all around BC, Raising money for Cancer, from Vancouver Island, the Lower mainland, Fraser Valley, and the interior. While riding my 100k route, I saw teams moving in different directions, going different routes, but they were out in force.
Riding by myself, I had a lot of time to reflect, and think about the journey. Riding down a path alone was a completely different experience, one without others by my side, without the support. I draw on this, because, I felt stronger with others around me. From all the years I have rode, I have spoken to many riders who carry the flag, and their experiences with the BC Cancer agency, and the support they have received over the years. They need your support. So find a Rider, show them your support, and make a donation to this worthwhile cause. Let's make a difference, we've come a long way.
It's still a year away until the next ride. I hope to be among my team next year, the group of 20 or more.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
Please consider supporting me by making a gift today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!
Thank you so much for your support!
