Why did we choose the name Unicorn Racers?
The Unicorn is our symbol for all the special, one-of-a-kind people who are fighting cancer, and all those who each of us has lost to cancer - including Emma, our team's inspiration. Before she was taken away from us at 5 years old, she was simply a funny little girl who loved to ride her bike wearing her unicorn helmet. Our jerseys have the names of all the unicorns each of us rides for.
And Racers because it's not a ride, it's a race, a race against time to find a treatment that will stop this brutal disease from stealing any more unicorns from us.
Emma never called it the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Instead, she called it the Race for No More Chemo. And that's what cancer meant to her and means to so many others: chemotherapy. The barbaric, 1960s treatments that are still used today, that push bodies to the limit and take loved ones away from home, family, and friends... for way too long.
And too often, even that's not enough.
We are so close to making this a disease that can be treated effectively and compassionately. Every dollar donated is the difference that will help fund our scientists to discover the cure we need and have all been waiting for.
Join us in our Race!
