Please support me in the Tour de Cure!

This August I will be embarking on a cycling challenge. I have committed to participate in the Tour de Cure presented by Wheaton Precious Metals to help BC Cancer Foundation break down cancer.

It will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer. Many of us have friends & family who are currently battling cancer. Many of us as well have those in our lives that have beaten cancer! My cousin Janet is fighting her cancer right here right now. We are the same age. 3 weeks apart in our birthdays. When asked why do I ride the first thing that comes from my heart is because I can. The depth of this is raw and felt deep in my heart. My commitment initially to do this was in 2021 was in memory of my dear friend Vince-who was the love of my close friend Susy. Vince left us July 2 2021 at the age of 56 after a short hard battle. He was a loving considerate and thoughtful man. He was a father to 2 beautiful children who have the strength of him in their souls. With the help of this fabulous group of people I completed my first 50 km in 2021. Today my soul rises for my Dad. He was a devoted brother, a gentle father, loving husband and an unforgettable grandfather. His lumbering presence, twinkling blue eyes, infectious laugh are missed every minute every day. He was a story teller. His battle was short. Within a few harsh weeks after becoming ill he was gone-February 2 2022 at 2022 pm. He didn't have a chance to be strong to fight his newly diagnosed lymphoma. The irony of that many 2s. This is my 2nd year being a part of this initiative. I ride for both these men who impacted and will continue to impact my life. I ride to give strength and hope to my cousin Janet. I ride to shout out to my Uncle Vic to say "You did it". I ride because I can. My participation in this and with this team remains in their honour and memory. They give me strength.
In the past I have watched and seen the collaboration of this group of community members for years and have admired the passion I have witnessed to get together and just ride while fundraising for cancer research. How much more beautiful can you get!

As a beginner cyclist I am relying on the many of my team to teach-mentor-support me on this journey. This year my goal is 100 km. With the encouragement of my team I hope to accomplish this goal. Tour de Cure 2021 was an amazing experience in Prince George. Vancouver/Fraser Valley 2022 here we come!

Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.

Please consider supporting me by making a gift today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!

Thank you so much for your support!
