I joined the Tour de Cure because raising money for life-saving research is one small way I can help bring hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and make an impact around the world.
This year I will be riding in memory of a dear colleague and friend, Gregory Huebner, who recently lost his own courageous battle with cancer. Gregory was a cycling enthusiast and a founding member of our BC Cancer Abbotsford cycling team back in 2018. He was diagnosed with cancer shortly before the race that year and despite his diagnosis still rode part way with us. I have the best memories of riding with him that weekend, sharing stories and laughing. He was impossible to catch! He's wearing the red helmet in the picture.
As a counsellor at BC Cancer, Gregory saw firsthand the many paths one could take when facing cancer. He chose to approach his cancer journey with optimism and an unshakeable faith that good things could come from his challenges. He was determined to find joy in every moment and to live life to the fullest regardless of what cancer threw at him. It was so inspiring to see.
Cancer affects all of us. We can conquer it together. Please consider making a donation today.
Thank you so much for your support!
