Please support me in the Tour de Cure!
Formerly the Ride the Conquer Cancer, the BC Cancer Foundation is offering a COVID-safe alternative this year where participants can complete their distances alone or in small groups. I'm honored to be part of the Bio-Cycle-Social Team comprised of BC Cancer staff working in Supportive Cancer Care.
Some of us like to call it the Tour de Care - whether someone has just been diagnosed, is undergoing treatment, is in early survivorship, is in longterm remission, or is at end-of-life, Supportive Cancer Care is there to help. All the money we raise goes through the BC Cancer Foundation to BC Cancer Supportive Care to support improving the skills of clinicians in Supportive Cancer Care (Pain & Symptom Management/Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Patient & Family Counseling, Nutrition, Speech & Language Pathology, Spiritual Care, Art Therapy).
With the virtual race environment this year, it's allowed us to participate in movement outside of just cycling. And since my dad stole my bike, I've decided to run for the Tour de Cure this year. (I just can't ask for it back - mom and dad riding together is just too cute!)
I'm nursing an injury, so I need some flexibility to my goals. My minimum goal is to run 21.1km (13.1 miles), but if my body allows I'm shooting for 30km because I've never run this far before. I'm motivated to do this because because I'm so grateful for my body allowing me to move in this way. While training is hard, cancer is so much harder.
Please consider supporting me by making a donation today. Your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!
Thank you so much for your support!
