I'm taking on the Tour de Cure
Held by Warren Yamasaki
Cancer impacts all of us. In my case, I am dedicating this year's ride in memory of my brother Gary who lost his fight with colon cancer in February this year.
This August, I will participate in the Tour de Cure to help BC Cancer Foundation fight cancer in whatever way I can. I had a serious bicycle accident on October 29, 2021. I was "doored" by a parked car on a bicycle route, and I am still unable to drive or ride my bike outside. I am optimistic I will be able ride 100km outside by August 27th, but it may be a 50km ride on my virtual trainer. It will be whatever my body and head allow me to do.
It will be a tough ride, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer. By doing this small thing, I want to honour Gary's legacy of never giving up even though he faced many difficulty challenges.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
If you have any room in your budget, I would greatly appreciate any donation towards this worthy cause.
Thank you so much for your support!
