Please support me in the Tour de Cure!
This August I will be once again riding in this epic fundraising event. It will be great to be back with so many great individuals and teams doing their best to fund research and preventative measures in the fight against cancer.
The past two years have been challenging to say the least. As many of you know, like my brother Stephen and son Tristan, I got the news that I had cancer. It was scary and humbling. Also, I was incredibly lucky. Stephen and Tristan fought courageous battles against this awful disease but ultimately it took their lives way, way too early. Stephen was 33. Tristan was only 18 years old.
Through early detection, great care from a host of doctors and other health professionals, my prognosis appears to be very bright. I feel almost back to my former self. I'm fortunate and I remember that every day. I also know that without the excellent faclities we are blessed to have in Victoria, my outcome could have been very different.
When you donate to my ride, this is the kind of facility and treatment you are supporting. They are there for your family, friends, co-workers and neighbours. The continued support for the BC Cancer Foundation will ensure, if needed, those facilities will be there for your loved ones like it was for me
I have started back on my bike and its going well. But I need to put many more kilometers in the saddle to get ready for 250 kms over 2 days. When the training gets hard, I think of my borther and son. I also think of the many people over the years that have donated to me personally. It gets me out on the road and getting ready to do my best.
So, if you can, please donate. The amount doesn't matter, what ever you can manage will be so appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support!
