Please support me in the Tour de Cure!
As you may have guessed already, yes, I have signed up to ride in the 2023 Tour de Cure Ride to raise funds for Cancer Research. This will be my 4th year and look forward to many more.
Most of you know my story, but for those that dont I will share my journey with you.
Cancer does not discriminate, it doesnt care. My first encounter was in August 2017, a golf ball size lump on my left hip that appeared out of nowhere. After numerous tests, X-rays, CT scans, Bone scans, MRIs the only thing that showed anything positive was an Ultrasound Biopsy. On November 20, 2017 the results came back as a malignant tumour and I immediately began a 6 week course of radiation followed by surgery to remove the tumour.
Everything went well and the recovery process started with lots of support from family and friends. Life was starting to look good again although the surgery left me with no feeling in my upper left thigh, I was thankful for the care and attention I was given by the nursing staff and the surgical team.
Routine X-rays and CT Scans are done on as part of the management and maintenance process. June 9, 2021 I got news that the cancer had returned but had metastasized to my head, upper left arm, right femur and right lung, not the news I was expecting. August 6, 2021 I started the first of my six rounds of Chemotherapy treatment which is an experience I wish no one had to go through. But with the support of Family, Friends and the Riders for Ryders team they helped and supported me through tough days.
At the moment my cancer is incurableable it is being managed through drugs, chemo and radiation which is why I ride. I want to raise as much as I can to help eradicate this disease once and for all, so no one has to go through what cancer patients endure day in and day out.
So in 2023 the Tour de Cure returns to the 200km over 2 days, the first day we ride from Cloverdale to Chilliwack, the second day we ride to Hope.
1 in 2 British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, We all know or have lost someone to cancer, a friend, a colleague, a loved one, believe me its not a fight you want to go through.
Please consider making a donation to my personal page your donation will help me achieve my fundraising goal AND motivate me in this challenge!
All donations over $10 will be issued a tax receipt.
Thank you so much for your support!
