Thank you for visiting!
This is my 9th ride to conquer cancer(now Tour de Cure). Please help me raise $3000!
I'll dedicate this year's ride to those fighting the good fight and with hope. Especially my dear Aunt Estrella and another friend who just got the horrible news. I am now more committed and willing than ever to put my greatest effort to raise as much money and awareness to help end this disease. HELP ME GET THERE BY DONATING TODAY. Learn why this is my challenge and passion below.
The main motivation to ride the first time was that my oldest brother David was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2011. Although he lost his battle against this horrible cancer in August of 2012, I now feel the need even more to do whatever it takes to help families who have time on their side and are still fighting.
This year I will be again riding 100 kms in one dayto put a little effort towards this great cause. Since its inception in 2009, the Ride has raised an amazing $96 million for the BC Cancer Foundation in support of cancer research in B.C. Your important donation has supported more than 47 projects, investigating more than 50 different cancer types and has enabled more than 300 patients to be submitted to POG.
My brother David was an accomplished road racing cyclist, a great Dad, son, husband and brother. When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer my understanding about the disease changed completely. Now I must say that I have much more respect for all the friends, families and unknown people that have suffered because of this disease. But mostly, my deepest respect goes to all the people that have had to hear those three awful words.
I'm also riding a 9th also for my father in law, who also passed away because of cancer. I only got the chance to know how an incredible man he was from the great memories passed on by my wife, brother and mother in law, and the rest of the family.
While dealing with my brother's disease, I constantly heard from my wife and others ''keep it up, Fighting is how you win the battle'', medicine has come a long way and now there are higher possibilities of success. For me one of the key moments of my brothers disease was when he learned that a group of cyclists from other teams, usually not best of friends given the competitive nature of the sport, dedicated a road cycling race to him displaying "KMS 4 David". A gesture that filled my brother and our whole family with joy and optimism.
As I embark in this journey to keep fighting, please help me achieve my goal of $3,000 to be able to ride 100+ "KMS X David" and help raise awareness to keep doctors and the people in the labs busy finding ways to make this disease disappear.
I thank you in advance for all the support.
