The Tour de Cure, formally known as the Ride to Conquer Cancer Vancouver, has been an event that has brought so many of my friends and family together in the shared effort to support the BC Cancer Foundation and the amazing work that its researchers, doctors, and staff do.
In my 10 years taking part in this inspiring event, my dad, Sam Wong, was always along for the ride. Sending us off at the Start Line, and loudly Cheering us all on as we crossed the Finish Line.
The Flying Tigers is a team created in his honour, as he sadly lost his own brave fight against cancer on July 22, 2021.
My dad often brought along his CB radio on our road trips, where his call sign was "Flying Tiger". In carrying on his name on our jerseys, he will forever be able to be part of this journey with us.
With all the support that Dad put towards this cause, we never thought that it would be him that we would be riding for. In doing so, we will continue the strength and spirit that he always brought to life, and continue to do what we can so that those diagnosed in the future will have a better chance to survive their own fight again Cancer!
Thank you for your support for us.
