This August, I will be embarking on a cycling challenge. I will be cycling 200km from Cloverdale to Hope over a course of two days to raise funds for cancer research.
One in two British Columbians will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Cancer touches all of us in some way. In 2015, my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I will never forget the day when I found out. It was an incredibly difficult journey seeing my dad go through cancer. BC Cancer supported my family through this journey with unwavering kindness and compassion. Thanks to BC Cancer, my dad was able to get the life-saving treatment he needed and was given a second chance at life. I am forever grateful.
I am riding so that we can reduce the number of times we hear the heartbreaking news that our loved one has cancer.
The ride will be hard and it will be long, but it does not compare to the challenge of facing cancer.
Funds raised through the Tour de Cure will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer, bringing hope to cancer patients in British Columbia and making an impact around the world.
